At Pando Partners, we have aligned our passion, our interests, and our distinct skills in helping to create financial value, and life value, for the clients we serve.

United by a friendship spanning more than 25 years, Pando Partners of Raymond James' founders, Catherine Miller and Teri Benson, began their days in finance together and spent the next two decades pursuing separate, yet parallel career paths. Even when divided by oceans, their friendship strengthened and their passion embodied in the education and service of others remained.

While studying for her MBA at The Wharton School, Catherine was inspired by the leadership of Dr. Stewart Friedman. Professor Friedman is renowned for his research in work-life integration and the powerful success stories of leaders who have learned to harmonize life's competing priorities. Today, Dr. Friedman's work supports the values of Pando Partners, the wealth management practice which has reunited Catherine and Teri.

Pando Partners' core mission centers on understanding each client's aspirations for life and legacy, and creating wealth strategies designed to help enable these aspirations to take root and spread.

Limitless personal growth is embodied in the Pando Partners name, and in nature. "Pando" exists as the world's largest living being. Nestled in the Wasatch Mountains of South Central Utah, Pando appears as a forest of beautiful aspens. In fact, this entire forest of over 47,000 trees is a single organism, stemming from an original tree some 80,000 years ago, and now sharing one massive, regenerating root structure.

As nature's purest example of the power of the "multiplier effect," Pando serves as an inspiration to Catherine and Teri that their clients' greatest ambitions can be achieved, with vision, planning, and professional financial management.

Teri Benson, CEPA, CDFA®, Financial Advisor

Teri brings over two decades of financial services experience to serve Pando clients. She began her career in 1993 as a marketing strategist for an Orlando-based, investment management firm, where she soon realized that an ability to communicate effectively about capital markets and investment strategies was akin to speaking a foreign language. She seized this opportunity. With unrivaled dedication, Teri learned this 'financial' language and communicated it with fluency and simplicity. In doing so, her client relationships and career opportunities flourished.

For the next dozen years, Teri shared her passion for finance with colleagues and clients of STI Capital Management (a.k.a. Trusco Capital), where she managed institutional trust relationships including corporate pension/profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, municipal pension systems and endowment/foundation clients.

By 2001, Teri assumed a leadership role in the design of parent company SunTrust's 401(k) services, where she expanded the bank's investment due diligence process to include external investment offerings. Ultimately, Teri was tapped to lead the firm's pioneering effort to distribute Trusco's investment strategies, establishing partnerships with leading investment firms, including Fidelity, Charles Schwab, John Hancock and Transamerica.

So accomplished in her time at SunTrust, Teri's investment colleagues offered her a founding partner role in the launch of a private capital-backed registered investment adviser, specializing in small cap stock investing. Her responsibilities included the launch and supervision of the firm's mutual funds designed for institutional and private clients. In partnership with her team, Teri grew the firm to $2.0 billion in assets under management. The entrepreneurial experience was invaluable, and uniquely positions Teri to advise new and established business owners with first-hand knowledge of their challenges and opportunities.

Teri's attention to detail, collaborative approach and great empathy are the foundation of her lasting relationships with clients. At Pando, she brings her investment and communication capabilities together with experience from her own life's transitions to assist clients plan, preserve and invest. Teri's deep sense of service radiates beyond Pando clients to making an impact in her community. She serves on the Board of the Women's Executive Council and is a past Board Member of Dave's House in Orlando.

Teri is a proud recipient of a Bachelor of Arts degree (1993) and M.B.A. in Finance (2001), Summa Cum Laude, from the University of Central Florida.

In 1962, Bob James set out to build a different kind of financial services firm – one that would focus on long-term planning instead of simply placing trades, one that would remain uncompromisingly moderate through market highs and lows, and one that would always put clients and the advisors who serve them first. As just one example, on October 19, 1987, known as Black Monday, while other firms closed their trading desks to minimize internal losses, Raymond James kept its desks open to meet clients' needs.

Bob's ideas and ideals have helped Raymond James grow steadily to become one of the largest independent financial services firms in the country with approximately $727 billion in total client assets today. Raymond James is a well-respected, widely recognized multinational firm with distinct business units that serve a variety of clients, from individuals and small business owners to municipalities and major corporations.

At Pando Partners of Raymond James, we are honored to work with Raymond James, a firm whose founding principles of client first, conservatism, independence and integrity remain refreshingly at the forefront and embodied in all that they do.
